Spend a Lot More, Get a Lot More

Hello Everyone!
I wanted to start a new series. So far I have a few running series that I update or add to every once in a while. Ive got... Game Changers... 5 Minute Hair-Dos....and.... Dollar Store Finds.
I thought that I would add a new one!  This one will be called 'Spend a Lot More Get a Lot More', This topic will be about those expensive products that are completely worth it. If a product is under this title, it means that I think it is pretty darn amazing!
Now here is the story to this product: I used to use L'oreal Age Perfect Renew cream because it has that very soft silicone-like finish that primers often give. But there was something slightly not right with it because it was thick on my skin. After talking to a makeup professional she told me that while it is a wonderful product it is much too heavy for my young skin and is made more for older people. Usually I ignore any labeling stating 'age' because so many great products have this is the title.

She guided me towards the Clinique section. 'oh oh' I thought... Clinique is expensive! She pumped some of the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel onto my hand and had me rub it in. It had that same amazing silicone-like finish.... but it also completely evened out and rubbed into my skin, it was not heavy or thick in the slightest.

I bought the cream and ZOOMED through it! It was amazing! It was the best cream ever! But then I did what I SO OFTEN DO! I did not repurchase the amazing expensive product... I went for a more affordable one. I am SO HAPPY THAT I DO THIS  for a few reasons.

1. Waiting allows you to have some perspective on weather it was an amazing product or weather it was just a product that you needed (cream).
2. Waiting allows you to try and compare a cheaper product while the memory of the expensive one is still fresh in your mind.
3. Waiting saves you  money!

So I went to a lovely basic cream called Nivea Soft, which I would recommend to anyone wanting a very basic affordable effective cream. I think I forgot about the amazing Clinique cream because I waited a long time, and have now been using Nivea for over a year.

But yesterday while cleaning out my desk, I found a travel bag I hadn't seen in a while, and inside was my near empty bottle of Clinique cream... I put it on my face (I know it was old, but I do not have sensitive skin). and thought WOW.

I went to Shoppers and repurchased the cream (lonnnggggggg overdue).
This cream is fantastic.
  1.  You can wear it on its own and not look greasy or shiny.
  2.  It soaks right into your skin and therefore is good for underneath makeup
  3. A light soft product, not thick or sticky.
  4. The claims are true. It does make your skin dramatically softer and smoother.
I have now made the firm decision to make this cream a must have. When I run out I WILL repurchase as I believe it is an amazing product that is unrivaled by other products I have tried.

I now want to try out Clinique's whole 3 Step Face Routine, as I am so pleased with this product! (I will let you know if I like it!)

**** Today I wore this moisturizer with my smashbox primer overtop and my skin has been lovely all day!

The product...

    1. Thanks girl! It's true, and I feel like the comparison to cheaper products is everything. I only want to to be spending big money if the product is incomparable! Thanks for reading Louise!

  3. The Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer is my holy grail (though, I use the lotion version) and I can't but agree how amazing it is! I believe I've used that face moisturizer for about seven years and I can't see myself switching, but I do like your tips on trying something else in between when you've found a product that may be too expensive in case you can get away with using something else. :) Great post.

    1. Isn't it just fantastic!? That's interesting, I didn't know it came in a lotion form! I had to learn those tips the hard way haha. So often I have rushed out to repurchase, only to end up thinking "wait...Lip Smackers could have done this job just fine!" Thanks for reading! :)

    1. It really is as great as they say! Perhaps ask for some of those little samples, so you can see which one works best for you! ( I think there are different ones for different skin types (some have a '+' on them)) Thanks for reading Beth!
